Job description: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Capex Property Accountant to join our client’s dynamic finance team. This pivotal role will report to the Investment & Reporting Controller and will play a key part in managing capital projects, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.You will collaborate across departments—particularly with Procurement and General Ledger teams—to ensure capital investments are strategically planned, efficiently executed, and fully funded. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial sustainability and operational excellence of an organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Analysis, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Partner with the Investment & Reporting Controller to manage capital project costs and reporting.
  • Support Procurement in evaluating project cost estimates.
  • Track planned investments, monitor budgets and variances, and flag potential risks.
  • Assist in building maintenance budgeting and periodic spend monitoring.

Governance, Policy & Compliance

  • Collaborate with the GL team on fixed asset register maintenance, verifications, and disposals.
  • Support the development and maintenance of SOPs aligned with legislative and policy frameworks.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and compliance activities.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to Capex Steering & Evaluation Committees.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Evaluate and enhance financial systems and processes, including preparation for future upgrades.
  • Identify and implement technology solutions to improve planning and reporting efficiency.

Reporting & Communication

  • Ensure timely completion of financial, reconciliation, and compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate with GL on asset creation and periodic reporting following board approvals.
  • Support compliance with frameworks such as the New Era Climate Action Framework, Public Spending Code, EU Taxonomy, and CSRD.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in capital accounting, financial planning, or property finance.
  • Strong understanding of capital project lifecycle and financial governance.
  • Proficiency in financial systems such as SAP and Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and with senior stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Experience in public sector or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and public spending codes.
