Job description: Deputy Quality ManagerWhat you need to know:
Matrix Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Deputy Quality Manager for our client based in County Longford who are leading food manufacturer. This is a permanent, Monday – Friday role.Your New Job:
As the Deputy Quality Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with all legal, customer, and company standards. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to uphold and enhance quality and food safety standards.Deputy Quality Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing, maintaining, and improving the site’s Quality and Food Safety Management Systems, including HACCP, GMP, traceability, and audit readiness.
  • Act as a key contact for audits and inspections (accreditation, regulatory, customer), conduct internal audits, investigate non-conformances, and support compliance with legal and customer standards.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and R&D to maintain and enhance product quality, hygiene, and food safety standards, including ownership of pest control and cleaning programmes.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the site QA team, including recruitment, training, performance monitoring, and day-to-day team coordination in the absence of the Quality Manager.
  • Support and promote Food Safety Culture and Food Defence initiatives across the site through engagement, training, and awareness activities.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in Food Science (or related field) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a food manufacturing quality role.
  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP, food safety legislation, GFSI schemes (e.g., BRCGS), retailer standards, internal auditing, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
  • Strong communicator and effective leader, with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, and a proven ability to lead, motivate, and support teams.
  • Highly organised and analytical, demonstrating strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in root cause analysis, risk assessment, and continuous improvement tools, while managing multiple tasks under pressure.
