Job description: Financial Accountant – CorkOur client, a leading name in the retail industry, with a strong presence across Ireland, is currently seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join its established finance team.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your expertise will directly impact key financial decisions and business strategy.In this role, you’ll report directly to the Head of Finance and work closely with a collaborative team of professionals. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on both detail and big-picture thinking, and who is looking to grow their career in a progressive and supportive setting.Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, partnering with senior leadership to monitor spend and deliver insightful variance analysis.
• Manage the monthly financial close process, providing analysis and commentary for management.
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements and external audits.
• Contribute to business planning and evaluation of future commercial opportunities.
• Provide backup support to Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing functions as needed.
• Oversee cash-flow management and prepare relevant financial reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with 1-3 years of post-qualification experience.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and non-finance stakeholders.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
• Capable of analysing complex financial data and offering strategic insights.
• Strong team player with a collaborative approach and cross-functional engagement experience.
