Job description: Financial Accounting & Advisory Services (FAAS) – Financial ServicesFAAS is a specialist accounting team that supports complex, large-scale and multinational companies in the financial services sector, by delivering tailored solutions to address financial and operational challenges.The roleThe candidate should have a strong background in the financial services/asset management industry and understand the challenges and trends, which affect this sector. The candidate should be experienced in funds financial reporting, able to lead a financial reporting team and is proficient in dealing with different stakeholders. It involves working closely with FAAS teams and other senior personnel within Grant Thornton but also with key people from our client base.Main responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and finalise of financial statements in financial services/asset management industry;
  • Manage end-to-end statutory and regulatory reporting processes;
  • Resolve complex GAAP/regulatory queries;
  • Build strong relationships with client representatives;
  • Liaise with investment managers, fund accounting team, and auditors;
  • Assist/ lead team supervision, performance management, staff development and training;
  • Drive system enhancements and reporting efficiency; and
  • Promote FAAS both internally and externally.

Skills and attributes

  • Strong experience and knowledge in financial services/asset management industry either directly or through practice;
  • Experience in a variety of funds types / structures such as mutual funds, UCITs, ICAVs, Private equity, REITs, SPVs an advantage;
  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent IFAC qualification;
  • 3-5+ years PQE practical experience of auditing or preparing financial statements
  • Proficient accountant, with strong knowledge of IFRS & US GAAP and some knowledge of Irish GAAP and Luxembourg GAAP;
  • Strong understanding of accounting and regulatory requirements related to funds;
  • Strong computer skills – advanced knowledge of Microsoft office;
  • ERP system experience such as Geneva, Investran, Oracle, SAP, Workday – desirable;
  • Excellent attention to detail and resolves issues as they arise;
  • Strong communicator, highly articulate with good report writing and excel skills;
  • Ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of industry developments;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Energy, enthusiasm and passion for a new challenge.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work within a team;
