Job description: Head of Quality and Clinical GovernancePurpose of the roleThe Quality and Patient Safety Manager will take a lead role in promoting the quality and patient safety agenda in Highfield. The postholder will be expected to have a strong clinical focus, be outcome oriented, be person centred and will be expected to promote the concept of continuous quality improvement in our pursuit of excellence.The postholder will be a key member of the Clinical Governance Committee and will be expected to take a lead role in ensuring the functions of the committee are fully discharged. This will include keeping the CEO and Management Team appraised of any pending or existing Quality and Patient Safety issues and or wider organizational considerations. The postholder will be required to prepare reports and recommendations that factor in key critical analytical considerations, evidenced informed practice, emerging trends, legislation and data outputs. The postholder will also be expected to appraise the management team and key service personnel in relation to emerging regulatory or legislative provisions that will impact on service delivery.The postholder will work in a multidisciplinary setting and will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with the various healthcare professional disciplines. The person will be expected to adopt a proactive approach and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and promote patient safety, based on evidence informed practice, national and international standards and feedback from patients and their families.The postholder will liaise with the respective regulators and provide support for the service managers and the named person responsible for regulatory and compliance matters.The Quality & Patent Service manager will manage and supervise staff assigned to their department.Eligibility CriteriaEssential
- A professional qualification and registration or entitlement to be registered in a Health-related area such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or other Health & Social Care Profession roles.
- Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience in healthcare environment
- Relevant experience working with regulators e.g. HIQA, MHC and knowledge of other relevant regulatory standards.
- Experience in Quality, Risk, Clinical Audit and Safety Management systems
- Experience in introducing quality improvement initiatives within services.
Desirable
- Qualification in a Quality Patient safety related field and or a commitment to undertake same
