Job description: The Head of Service will have significant experience of leading and managing services and supporting people with physical / intellectual disabilities, autism, and other support needs to live an ordinary life, a life like any other. The post holder will provide strong strategic, professional and managerial leadership for all aspects of service operations. The Head of Service will focus on planning, developing and implementing strategies, monitoring and managing operational performance, and overseeing the delivery of compliance standards for residential and day services across the organisation. The ideal candidate will have the requisite social care qualification and/or significant social model experience combined with the competence to provide oversight to health and clinical provision elements of the services.The purpose of this post is to take operational responsibility for all service provision including supporting and leading a large organisational change. This post holder will also be required to support best practice in the delivery of high-quality Person-Centered services in line with legislation and policies, ethos and values by acting as a role model in the post.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and drive organisational development in line with Board and Senior Management direction.
  • Lead the implementation of change initiatives and national improvement plans.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring high standards of person-centred service delivery.
  • Promote a shared organisational vision and values grounded in best practices and person-centred care.
  • Manage performance, budgets, and KPIs across all operational areas.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving legislation, safeguarding standards, and quality frameworks.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and service users.
  • Provide professional leadership at internal and external meetings, including representation at strategic forums.
  • Chair and participate in case conferences, audits, and investigations as required.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and professional development.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Board and deputise for the CEO when needed.

Human Competence:

  • Hold a master’s degree relevant to this role: social care, social work, management or related.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team management experience, including rotas and on-call responsibilities
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior management position within health or social care
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience working in the disability sector
  • Qualification or related in People Management
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload effectively
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance
  • WFH opportunities with flexibility where possible
