Job description: My client, a reputable and progressive main contractor, is currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join their expanding team. Contribute to a range of challenging and varied construction projects across Galway and the West of Ireland.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure full compliance with internal QEHS (Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety) systems and standards across all active sites.Maintain and manage H&S documentation via Hammertech or similar digital platforms (training will be provided).Conduct regular site inspections and audits, ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to and corrective actions implemented promptly.Provide support and guidance to site teams, subcontractors, and management on all Health & Safety matters.Prepare and communicate method statements, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.Ensure personnel certifications and equipment calibrations are current and compliant.Investigate incidents and accidents thoroughly, documenting findings and recommending preventative actions.Liaise with project management to ensure safe systems of work and effective planning of high-risk activities.Ideal CandidateMinimum 5 year’s experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction industry (main contractor experience preferred).Degree or higher qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.Strong knowledge of current Irish H&S legislation and construction best practices.Proven track record in driving safety initiatives and fostering a positive safety culture.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.Proficient in MS Office and other digital tools.Full Irish driving licence. * Please note: Applicants must have at least 5 year’s direct experience working with Irish construction regulations. You must have an existing valid visa or permit to work full-time in Ireland. Unfortunately, applications that do not meet these requirements cannot be considered.
