Job description: Job Description:At Kepak we have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Officer to join our site at Ballymahon, Longford.This position will report directly to the Site Manager, taking charge of creating and executing Health and Safety management systems for the site. You will collaborate closely with the Group H&S support services to ensure that our site management systems are in perfect harmony with the overarching Group safety strategy.Hours/Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 17:00pm (Flexibility needed)Key Responsibilities:
Record and investigate all accidents on site, monitor trends and produce statistics for BU managers
Ongoing development and implementation of improved Health and Safety practices, policies and procedures on the site.
Lead in house training with managers and employees
Enforce the effective operation of Safety and Health practices and policies in conjunction with Business Unit Managers
Develop and budget with the Site Manager effective training policies for implementation on the site.
Engage proactively with safety personnel
Facilitate, support and advise the Site Risk Management teams. Chair the Site Safety meetings to update all business unit managers on developments at site level.
Ensure all personnel are fully safety trained and competent for the role.
Undertake and review risk assessments as required
Implement Internal Audit processes at site level and measure performance and action planning.
A written safety report will be presented each month to the site manager for discussion with the Site H&S team identifying areas of risk, concern and recommendations for implementation on site.
Undertake regular unscheduled Safety audits on the site to ensure compliance with Group policy.
Enforce policy by identifying breaches and reporting to the Site Manager and the Group Health and Safety Manager
Requirements:
H&S Diploma or degree is advantageous
2+ years Health and Safety experience ideally in food and / or manufacturing environments.
Strong communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative without immediate hands on support.
Ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives and ability to challenge status quo.
Strong IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and other common software tools.
Experience in a Training environment would be beneficial.
