  • Lead technical assessments of R&D tax relief claims, ensuring eligibility and compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Work with clients to identify qualifying R&D projects, reviewing technological advancements and business innovations.
  • Prepare and submit financial disclosures for R&D claims, Patent Box applications, and grant funding.
  • Provide specialist advice on tax treatment for software development, fund structuring, and emerging tech innovation.
  • Support clients in HMRC inquiries, ensuring R&D tax claims are defended effectively.
  • Collaborate with senior managers, directors, and tax experts, contributing to new business opportunities and service improvements.

What We’re Looking For

  • MSc/MEng/PhD in IT, Software Engineering, or related field, with 2-3 years of industry experience.
  • Strong experience in R&D tax claims and fund structuring, with deep knowledge of innovation tax reliefs.
  • Familiarity with software architecture, API development, and technology improvements in commercial settings.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear explanations for clients and HMRC.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Highly analytical and detail-focused, ensuring accuracy in tax assessments and reporting.
  • A proactive and commercially aware approach to work, identifying opportunities for improved service delivery.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites when required to conduct on-site assessments and technical discussions.
