Job description: The internship positions are located in the Secretariat of the International Narcotics Control Board (SINCB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Vienna (Austria). The INCB is the independent, quasi-judicial control and treat monitoring body for the implementation of international drug control treaties. In accordance with its functions and mandate, the INCB closely monitors international trade in controlled substances to ensure sufficient quantities of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursor chemicals are available for medical, scientific and industrial use, and that there is no diversion from licit sources to illicit traffic. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. The internship will be in person at the duty station, local conditions permitting, with the option of flexible working arrangements. The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to: -Assist in formatting and testing hundreds of web pages of incb.org into a more visually compelling form, under the guidance of staff of the INCB secretariat. – Receive training to use the in-house UNOV content management system to perform their tasks. – Attend and take notes at various meetings as required; – Perform other tasks as required.Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION); • Be computer literate in standard software applications and have a demonstrated interest in the area of web design, user experience or user interface. • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D.
