Job description: Role Overview:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in financial services or lending operations who is looking to develop their underwriting skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment. You will work closely with senior underwriters to assess mortgage applications, analyse financial information, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal credit policies.Key Responsibilities:Support the assessment and processing of residential mortgage applications in line with credit policy and lending criteriaReview and analyse income documents, bank statements, credit reports, and other supporting documentationAssist with preparing recommendations for approval or decline decisionsLiaise with mortgage advisors, brokers, and internal teams to gather required informationEnsure all files are accurately documented and meet internal risk and compliance standardsMaintain up-to-date knowledge of lending policies, regulatory requirements, and market trendsProvide administrative support to the underwriting team as neededEscalate complex cases to senior underwriters for further reviewKey Requirements:2+ years’ experience in pre underwriting, mortgage perations or financial servicesStrong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detailFamiliarity with KYC, AML, and credit policy principlesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word)Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentQFA qualification (or working towards) is a strong advantage
