We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Labor and Employment Specialist to support our General Counsel – Labor and Employment in managing labor and employee relations, workplace compliance, and employment policies within Garrett. The ideal candidate will have experience in labor and employment-whether in human resources, labor relations, legal or a similar field.Key Job Areas of Responsibilities
LER Governance
- Draft relevant policies within the LER domain and conduct regular reviews of global HR policies
- Create and manage an online LER portal, ensuring access to standardized templates, policies, and country-specific LER resources.
- Develop and implement an LER Early Warning System to proactively keep HR and leadership updated on recent or upcoming regulations.
LER operations
- Support with the annual wage negotiations and collective bargaining agreements process (dashboards, scorecards, leadership report out, etc.)
- Oversee logistics and coordination for European Works Council (EWC) meetings.
- Organize and maintain an annual LER training calendar, coordinating training sessions across the organization (multiple countries and timezones).
- Prepare LER presentation decks for leadership reviews
- Manage engagement with external law firms, including purchase orders and billing processes.
- Establish and maintain litigation status tracking systems in collaboration with law firms.
Data Privacy
- Support the Compliance & Investigations Manager on privacy standards, audits, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Support privacy training and awareness initiatives within the LER function, including the development of compliant tools and templates.
Education / Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or a related field
Experience
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in labor relations, HR, or employment compliance in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial settings.
Key Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of employment law, collective bargaining, and compliance issues within the automotive sector would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, HR, and plant operations teams.
- Experience managing labor-related risks and disputes within manufacturing or industrial environments.
