Your ResponsibilitiesThe (LSF) at ISTA provides scientists with centralized basic support structures that are required for efficient research work. We are expanding our services and are looking for a highly motivated individual to build up and operate support structures with focus on experimental life sciences (biochemistry, cell biology, developmental biology, evolutionary biology, molecular biology, neuroscience).

• Work closely with research groups to plan, implement and maintain central services for life science research labs
• Procure, maintain and, if applicable, operate facility equipment (e.g. qPCRs, plate reader, centrifuges) with a focus on histology equipment (e.g. cryostats, microtomes, embedding stations)
• Develop, provide and monitor training and technical support on facility equipment to users
• Develop, implement and monitor laboratory infrastructure services (e.g. safety measures, waste disposal) in accordance with Austrian legislation
• Coordinate laboratory construction and reconstruction to ensure efficient laboratory operations
• Conceive and implement rules, guidelines and SOPs

Your Profile

• Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or related field with proven practical experience in experimental life science laboratories
• Thorough technical understanding and working knowledge of typical lab equipment (e.g. qPCR, plate reader, centrifuges) with a focus on histology equipment
• Experience in the area of quality management, procurement and/or laboratory safety are of advantage
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (working language of the Institute) and advanced German skills
• Hands on mentality and service oriented approach towards researchers
• Goal oriented working style with high conceptual and organizational skills
• Excellent team player with a with a friendly, collaborative, can-do mindset
