Job description: A leading pharmaceutical manufacturer is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead and manage site maintenance operations at their EU GMP vaccine manufacturing facility in Ireland. This is a key engineering leadership role reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and working cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, and Technical teams.The RoleYou’ll be responsible for overseeing all planned and reactive maintenance across equipment, utilities, and facilities to ensure compliant, efficient and uninterrupted production. You will manage a team of maintenance engineers and external contractors, drive preventative and predictive maintenance programmes, and ensure ongoing compliance with EU GMP, EHS standards, and internal policies.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the site maintenance team, managing workload, training, and team development
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules with Production, QC, and Scheduling functions
  • Ensure maintenance activities are compliant with GMP and safety regulations
  • Manage CMMS (e.g., eMaint), ensuring timely closure of work orders and tracking of metrics
  • Oversee vendor relationships and service contracts for critical systems
  • Support regulatory audits and investigations; lead CAPAs and deviation management
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and equipment reliability projects
  • Manage departmental budget, KPIs, and spares inventory
  • Support the commissioning and validation of new equipment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance management within a GMP-regulated pharma/biotech setting
  • Strong understanding of EU GMP (particularly Annex 1 and 15), EHS, and cleanroom operations
  • Proven experience using CMMS (e.g., eMaint)
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience supporting sterile/aseptic manufacturing or vaccine production
  • Exposure to automation, BMS, and utility systems (WFI, HVAC, clean steam, etc.)
  • Lean Six Sigma or project management experience
