Job description: Offer DescriptionMissionWe are inviting applications for master’s theses/internship positions focused on pioneering robotic foundation models to understand the neural basis of mammalian motor control. The projects are generously funded by an and a .Our lab is driving a paradigm shift from hypothesis-driven discovery in neuroscience, focusing on carefully defined experimental conditions, to data-driven discovery, focusing on interrogating a large number of conditions to cover vast hypothesis spaces. To this end, we are working with some of the richest neural-behavioural datasets in macaques and rodents from our collaborators. We are also planning our own neural recording setup to conduct high-throughput experiments in the loop. Our goal is to develop a scalable ‘general-purpose’ foundation model that can perform naturalistic motor actions in a broad set of environments.Who we areThe is a young and rapidly growing team of researchers in physics, computer science, mathematics and neuroscience with a shared passion for conducting pioneering scientific work at the interface of neuroscience and machine learning (NeuroAI). • Working on collaborative research projects. The precise research topic(s) will be discussed with the successful candidate depending on their background, expertise and affinities.
• Publish your results in a journal and an ML conference.

• Knowledge and hands-on experience in at least one of the following fields: robotics, deep learning, RL or computer vision, preferably documented in code repositories.
• Proficiency in Python. Other languages are a bonus.
• Interest or experience in working with real-world datasets, including some of the following: motion capture, single-neuron recordings, video, EMG/EEG and graphics.
• Motivation to engage in research questions within and outside of your field of expertise.
• First-author publication is a bonus, but not a requirement.
• Ideally, 6+ months of commitment, but can be shorter for exceptionally talented applicants
