Job description: Senior Technical Project ManagerProject: WLAN Programme – North WestLocation of PostThere are currently two vacancies available in the North West region:Letterkenny, Co. DonegalBallytivnan, SligoRemuneration: circa €80,000 – €85,000 with annual increments, expenses, mileageWorking Hours: (blended working model, standard working hours is 35 hours weekly)Annual Leave: 30 days annual leave plus bank holidaysAbout the RoleOur client is undertaking a major wireless infrastructure programme to modernise connectivity across its healthcare facilities. The estate forms a foundational asset in delivering quality healthcare, and the WLAN Programme is a strategic initiative underpinning this goal. Effective capital and estate management ensures that patients and healthcare professionals operate in safe, high-quality environments.This role sits within the Capital & Estates function, which delivers expert technical, project management, fire and safety, property, and infrastructural support services for the planning, delivery, and maintenance of physical infrastructure-encompassing buildings, services, and equipment.Reporting RelationshipThe post holder will report to the Estates Manager or a nominated senior manager.Purpose of the PostTo provide senior-level project and technical oversight across all stages of delivery for wireless infrastructure upgrades and related capital works, ensuring optimal outcomes in terms of quality, time, budget, and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesCapital Project ManagementLead the development and implementation of major capital projects in both acute and non-acute settings.Coordinate preparation of project briefs, stakeholder consultation, and design processes.Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and manage contractor and consultant selection processes.Oversee design development, procurement, contract execution, and project delivery in line with approved budgets and timelines.Liaise with service managers to facilitate commissioning, handover, and operation of new facilities.Manage expenditure reporting and provide updates to senior stakeholders.Minor Capital WorksPlan and execute minor works in consultation with relevant maintenance and operational leads.Prepare design specifications, appoint and manage consultants, and monitor construction progress.Ensure completion of works in line with quality and cost objectives.Maintenance PlanningDevelop maintenance strategies for buildings, equipment, and vehicles.Prepare budgets, define staffing requirements, and oversee contract implementation.Fire Safety & ComplianceLiaise with Fire Officers and internal teams to develop and implement fire safety programmes.Ensure legislative and policy compliance.Property and Asset ManagementSupport estate strategy planning and property utilisation in collaboration with property managers.Contribute to record-keeping, compliance, and asset register maintenance.Energy & SustainabilityMonitor energy usage and identify efficiency opportunities.Lead implementation of agreed energy-saving initiatives.Eligibility CriteriaQualifications and ExperienceApplicants must have:A QQI Level 8 or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, orFull Membership of Engineers Ireland (or equivalent), andA minimum of seven years’ relevant experience in planning, design, project management or building systems installation and maintenance.Additional RequirementsRequisite knowledge and ability (including administrative capability) for the duties of the role.Access to own transport and willingness to travel between project sites in the North West of Ireland.Core CompetenciesTechnical ExpertiseExtensive knowledge of construction methods, building services, maintenance practices, and relevant legislation.Familiarity with HIQA standards, building regulations, and public procurement processes.Leadership and CommunicationStrong team leadership and relationship-building capabilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Project and Resource ManagementProven ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion.Skilled in resource and budget management.Strategic Thinking & Problem SolvingInnovative problem-solver with the ability to anticipate issues and adapt plans accordingly.Quality and Service OrientationCommitment to continuous improvement and delivery of user-centred outcomes.Additional RequirementsCompliance with child safeguarding legislation and workplace health & safety protocols is required.Familiarity with organisational performance frameworks and ethical standards is essential.Closing date for applications is May 18th 2025.
