Job description: JobbeskrivelseAt the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology, one or more PhD stipend’s are available within the doctoral programme: Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience from June 1, 2025, or soon thereafter.At Department of Health Science and Technology (HST) we conduct research, teaching and innovation within e.g. medicine, biomedicine, biomedical engineering, health technologies, robotics, neuroscience, sports science, public health and physiotherapy. You can read more about our department at our web page and research portal.As The Faculty of Medicine wishes PhD positions to enable careers both within and outside the university, the vacant positions are created in such a way that the competences achieved in the position will qualify for both a research career and a career in the commercial and/or public sector. At least a year before the position expires, you will be offered an interview to clarify your future career.The main responsibility of the PhD fellow is to plan and conduct research focused on applying different types of modelling methods to identify and visualize long-term patterns in blood glucose among people with insulin-treated type 2 diabetes. Moreover, the PhD fellow will include development and testing of a prototype user interface in collaboration with clinical partners. Therefore, a candidate with a clinical background will be preferred.The PhD position is based in Aalborg.The candidate will be affiliated with the research group Medical Informatics and Image Analysis at the Department of Health Science and Technology, along with Steno Diabetes Center North Denmark.The successful candidate is expected to hold:

• A master’s degree in clinical science and technology or equivalent

Competencies in biostatistics and predictive modelling * Experience in qualitative research methods, including usability testing

• Danish language skills to an extent that the candidate can conduct qualitative data collection and analysis among Danish clinicians and patients
• Proficiency in oral and written English to be capable of presenting results to an international audience
• Ability to work collaboratively with both junior and senior researchers, along with healthcare professionals and patients

PhD stipends are allocated to individuals who hold a Master’s degree. PhD stipends are normally for a period of 3 years. It is a prerequisite for allocation of the stipend that the candidate will be enrolled as a PhD student at the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology in accordance with the regulations of Ministerial Order No. 1039 of August 27, 2013 on the PhD Programme at the Universities and Certain Higher Artistic Educational Institutions. According to the Ministerial Order, the progress of the PhD student shall be assessed at regular points in time.How to apply
