We are responsible for ensuring the high quality of RTÉ’s output across multiple platforms, overseeing the preparation, review and/or output of RTÉ’s channels and content, ensuring that content is seamlessly delivered across all platforms, to the highest standards. This position is crucial to maintaining high-quality content standards and addressing any technical or editorial discrepancies as they arise.Reporting to the Platform Control Supervisor, you will oversee the smooth delivery of content, troubleshoot technical issues, and collaborate closely with multiple teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with broadcasting and digital standards. You will act as the last line of quality control, ensuring that programming is delivered as scheduled, and meets audience expectations.About the role:

  • Ensure all content complies with platform-specific requirements, regulations, and internal content guidelines.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure high quality output, optimising content for each platform, ensuring the best possible audience experience.
  • Work closely with content, production, scheduling, and technical teams to ensure the timely and accurate release or broadcast of content on all platforms. This also includes associated services such as subtitling and audio description, to ensure a successful overall output of channels and services.
  • Ensure metadata is accurately captured and distributed, exploring cross-platform opportunities to serve and grow audiences, automating where possible to allow for scale and volume.
  • Proactively identify and troubleshoot any technical or content-related issues, resolving issues quickly and minimising disruptions to the audience experience.
  • Embrace future ways of working including the integration of new technologies and services within the media supply chain, from cloud-based to AI-driven solutions.
  • Being fully compliant with, and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of, all technological and operational requirements in your area. Full understanding of emergency/BCP procedures.

About you:

  • Highly experienced in ensuring smooth and accurate output across various platforms, including linear and digital, whilst maintaining strict compliance with all editorial and regulatory requirements.
  • Possess a strong combination of technical expertise, attention to detail, and an in-depth understanding of broadcasting and media systems, standards and regulations.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of output workflows, scheduling, and content delivery systems.
  • A strong understanding of the regulatory landscape to ensure adherence to codes and guidelines related to audiences, advertising rules etc.
  • Strong communication skills, working closely with various teams to ensure that content reaches the audience in a timely manner, error-free, and in full compliance with regulatory and editorial standards.
  • The ability to anticipate issues, troubleshoot in real-time, and implement solutions is crucial in this often fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and resolving any compliance or broadcast-related concerns before they impact broadcast or on demand.
  • Ability to grasp new software, technologies, and platform requirements, adapting efficiently to an evolving digital environment.
  • Constantly looking for ways to improve and optimise workflows, to anticipate challenges, and suggest innovative solutions.

This role may require flexible working, outside of core hours, to oversee live events, operational obligations, or programming overnight or across global time zones e.g. election coverage, award ceremonies, clock change etc.The Panel will be formed for a period of two years as a support to the Platform Control team, in particular covering planned and unplanned absences. It may also be used to fill future vacancies that may arise.Applicants who are successful in achieving a place on the Panel may be contracted on a casual irregular contract basis and paid at an appropriate rate on the Platform Editor salary scale between €22.26 and €31.26 gross per hour (subject to relevant skills, knowledge and experience).If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit your CV together with a cover letter outlining your interest and alignment to the role requirements.
