Job description: Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Postdoc in Economics at the Department of Economics.The Department of Economics provides research, teaching and knowledge transfer within the core areas of economics, i.e. microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methods. The Department is especially active in business-related, applied economic research, and comprises two research centres: Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI) and Pension Research Centre (PeRCent).Core research areas of the Department of Economics are:

  • Behavior, Incentives and Economic
  • Design Employment and the Functioning of Labor Markets
  • Energy, Environment and Resources
  • Firm Behavior, Innovation and the Functioning
  • Growth, Unemployment, and Inflation
  • Globalization, Migration and Urbanization
  • Quantitative/Empirical Methods and Data Science
  • Welfare: Education, Health Care and Pensions.

The Department of Economics has a strong research focus and is very successful in fundraising activities. It is currently hosting research projects supported by the Danish/EU research councils, as well as private foundations and companies.The Postdoc is a non-tenured position for a two- or three-year period to be negotiated during interviews. The position will have a research obligation. If the selected candidate is only interested in research without teaching, the Postdoc position will be for two years. If the selected candidate is interested in teaching, the position will also have a teaching obligation, and then the Postdoc position will be for three years. This latter entails that teaching will be one third of the workload.To fulfill the research and potentially teaching requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.CBS and departmental responsibilities

  • Individual and group-based research at high international standards, incl. publishing and scientific communication.
  • Participation in research activities, such as seminars, workshops, networks and conferences.
  • Contributing to administrative responsibilities of the Department and CBS-wide tasks.
  • Communicating findings to the wider public and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular, including participation in the public debate to promoting CBS’s academic reputation.

Qualifications
The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on research potential and prior experience in working with micro data.Emphasis is placed on research relevant to the job description. The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).Desirable qualifications:

  • Prior experience in working with economic models of migration, residential choice models, and/or spatial, urban or trade models.
  • Proficiency in Stata.
  • Knowledge of R, Matlab and/or Python.
  • Prior experience in working with spatial data.
  • Documented research track record at international level, including publications in recognized journals in the field.
