The Software Engineering Section seeks to conduct research and education that are both foundational and have impact on industry and society.Job description
You will be part of a national interdisciplinary consortium composed of leading Danish universities and software companies working to advance the adoption of responsible and human-centered AI in software engineering (AI4SE). The AI4SE1DK project addresses urgent industry needs by investigating how generative AI can be effectively, ethically, and sustainably adopted in real-world software teams.Your tasks will include conducting empirical studies (including surveys and case studies) to understand AI adoption barriers, organizational readiness, and team climate. You will work closely with software companies and research institutions to identify best practices for AI4SE and co-develop guidelines that reflect Scandinavian values and sustainability goals. In collaboration with the implementation board, you will help shape national dissemination strategies and contribute to educational integration of your findings.The project will give you access to a rich ecosystem of researchers and practitioners, opportunities to publish in high-impact venues, and real-world validation of your research.We look to hire candidates holding a PhD, especially in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other closely related fields. A good approximation of the area of interest is the scope of the ICSE conference. We expect a documented record of peer-reviewed publications in the areas covered by conferences and journals such as, ICSE, FSE, ASE, ESEM, CHASE, ICSSP, PROFES, as well as TOSEM, TSE, JSS, EMSE, and IST. Publications in other venues are equally appreciated if they cover related topics.The ideal candidate should document:

  • Interest in human-centered computing, empirical software engineering, and the organizational aspects of technology adoption
  • Skills in conducting high quality academic research, reflected in demonstratable outputs.
  • Experience with mixed methods research (qualitative and quantitative).
  • Experience in engaging and collaborating with industry partners.
  • Good cooperation skills and ability to work in a team.

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The ITU Software Engineering Section studies reliable, secure, and innovative solutions to drive technological progress and the digital transformation of society. The section conducts research on computing education, education technology, government IT, IT program management, large-scale software analysis, privacy, probabilistic programming, public sector software, robotics software, software development methods, software development tools, software quality assurance, software requirements engineering, and software testing. It is heavily involved in teaching several of the IT University’s most technical education programs BSc Software Development, BSc Data Science, MSc Computer Science, and MSc Software Design.Working at the IT University

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Taxation’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and job structure for academic staff at Universities.Qualification Requirements
The following qualifications are required:

  • Candidates are required to have academic qualifications at PhD level

Employment as postdoc is a temporary position for up to 4 years at the same University.Application
