Tyndall National Institute is performing breakthrough research in photonics, electronics, micro-nano-technology and smart systems to deliver innovative solutions in life sciences including medtech, biopharma and agritech.Tyndall is currently engaged in an ambitious ‘ICT for Health’ strategy that will leverage our core strengths in Information and Communications Technologies to develop the next generation of intelligent medical devices and systems. A significant part of this activity is focussed on the development of wearable and transdermal technologies for applications in drug delivery and diagnostics.Tyndall National Institute is now seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in this exciting and rapidly expanding R&D field, primarily to work on rapid prototyping of the microneedle-based devices that will underpin the next generation of wearable and transdermal biosensors.Purpose of the Role
Tyndall National Institute now invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher in the Life Sciences Interface Group. This is an exciting opportunity for you to help implement applied research in a fast-moving area. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary, industry-aligned team of researchers with a focus on developing the microneedle technologies that will subsequently be merged with smart actuators, low power wearable devices, biosensors, and embedded systems.This is a hands-on, laboratory-based role, in which you will design, prototype and test a range of microneedle devices. Your activities will also include aspects of project management and researcher supervision. The position is likely to involve some international travel to meetings, conferences and workshops. In return, you will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions for medical technology challenges, as well as to gain valuable experience in the development of next-generation devices and systems.Key Responsibilities

The duration of the project is 12 months in the first instance, although this may be extended pending funding and the impact of the candidate.Appointment may be made on the IUA Scale for Post-Doctoral Researchers €45,847 – €52,339 pa.
