Job description: >Reporting to the Head of Operations the Process Systems Engineer is responsible for identifying efficiencies in business processes, developing and implementing solutions to optimise operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and quality whilst reducing costs. The Process Systems Engineer will be responsible for mapping out current ways of working, identifying efficiency gains, working with vendors on enhancements, assessing the enhancement options and recommending solutions while working with IT on planning/implementing solutions. Project management will be an important part of the role so experience in project managing process improvement/ business transformation is a must.Key Responsibilities: Process Design and Development:
– Create process flow diagrams and process maps.
– Develop process specifications and parameters.
– Design departmental layouts and configurations where applicable.
– Establish control mechanisms and feedback systems.
– Conduct process simulations and modelling.
– Introduce modelling tools to technically analyse impact of improvements.
– Develop and implement process improvement solutions using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma.Optimisation and Improvement:
– Define and analyse process performance metrics against targets.
– Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
– Implement process improvements to enhance productivity.
– Standardise workflows for consistency.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes.
– Lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects with support from the Quality Manager.Documentation and Standardisation – Aligned with agreed process improvements:
– Create new standard operating procedures (SOPs)
– Develop new work instructions and technical manuals.
– Maintain process documentation and change history.
– Establish control limits and specifications.
– Define quality control checkpoints for internal audit.
– Monitor and report on the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
– Train staff on new processes and improvement methodologies.Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:
– Investigate process deviations and failures.
– Provide root cause analysis of process deviations and model pathways of improvement.
– Implement corrective and preventive actions.
– Resolve technical issues in real-time.
– Be accountable for and support teams during process disruptions.Cross functional Collaboration:
– Partner with IT to implement technology solutions – Analyse current ways of working, seek out new solutions and work with vendors to recommend enhancements to current application functionality while comparing with alternative options.
– Work with IT to deliver new solutions.
– Work with finance to quantify ROI of process improvements.
– Partner with the data analyst to utilise analytics to identify improvement opportunities and apply predictive modelling to anticipate process issues.
– Collaborate with HR on change management and training initiatives.
– Establish mechanisms for capturing and evaluating improvement ideas.
– Foster a culture of continuous improvement across departments.IT Responsibilities:
Part of your role will entail working with the IT team and their suppliers to deliver these improvements by:
– Reviewing the capability of existing IT solutions to incorporate your recommended changes
– Where these systems cannot meet the required functionality, you will work with IT team to secure a suitable solution.
– You will work with IT, suppliers and users to ensure that the process change objectives and benefits are attained.
-Assist in designing the digital roadmap for the company, helping to correctly prioritise initiatives base on efficiencies underpinning growth.
– Carry out proof of concepts with IT.
– Track, measure and refine process changes to meet goals.Qualifications:
– Primary degree in Engineering
– 2-3 years’ experience in process improvement, industrial engineering, or related field.
– Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred)
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent project management abilities.
– Proficiency in process mapping and analysis tools, e.g. Visio
– Experience with data analysis and statistical methods.
– Knowledge of industry-specific processes (healthcare and warehousing) is a plus.
– Knowledge of van routing and electronic proof of delivery systems is a plus.
– Demonstrated experience in business process improvement or digital transformation is required.
– Experience in the operation and installation of warehouse management systems is a plus.Skills and Competencies:
