Job description: Hartley People Recruitment is hiring on behalf of our client in the engineering and manufacturing industry for a Production & Purchasing Administrator role.Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Production & Purchasing Administrator to oversee all production activities and purchasing operations within a fast-paced engineering and production facility. This role is critical to ensuring the seamless operation of production workflows, inventory control, purchasing, and compliance with health and safety regulations.Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the Production Operation System.
  • Ensure all fabricated items are properly documented and controlled.
  • Generate Work Orders based on inventory levels and customer sales orders.
  • Accurately issue materials and labour against Work Orders in the system.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials and production operations in the system.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports on production performance and inventory

statistics.

  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and sub-components.
  • Address inventory shortages through appropriate purchasing or internal fabrication.
  • Conduct cycle counts on critical raw materials and finished goods.
  • Organise and administer the Annual Stock Take.
  • Issue RFQs for raw materials and consumables to approved vendors.
  • Review quotations and raise Purchase Orders in line with purchasing procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in procurement.
  • Manage order processing and deliveries to external sub-contractors.

Maintenance Coordination:

  • Schedule and maintain preventive maintenance operations for plant and machinery.
  • Ensure calibration requirements are met for applicable equipment.
  • Assist with occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Perform daily fire door checks and weekly fire alarm checks to ensure compliance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience in a production administration or procurement role within an

engineering/manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of inventory and production systems.
  • Proficiency in ERP/Production Operation Systems.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and maintenance procedures is a plus.
