Job description: Research Assistant for the HEPHAESTUS projectCopenhagen Business School invites applications for a Research Assistant with a focus on circular economy and circular business model innovation; craft preservation and innovation; digital and cutting-edge technologies at the Department of Business Humanities and Law. The research assistant position is a 1 year position and the workload is divided between 70% research tasks and 30% teaching obligations. The expected starting date is 1 September 2025.The position is a one-year contract connected to the Horizon 2022 research project “Hephaestus: Heritage in EuroPe: New tecHnologies in crAft for prEserving and innovaTing fUtureS”. The workload is 37 hours per week.About the departmentCore research areas of the are organized into different research Units: Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership; Governance, Culture and Learning; and CBS Law. Faculty within these groups have research backgrounds in all areas of law, political science, sociology, philosophy, history, anthropology, literature, theology, aesthetics, design and innovation, tourism and leisure management, cultural economics, leadership and strategy, pedagogic study, and other areas The department’s work is centered on addressing contemporary challenges faced by business and society today, leveraging insights from the humanities, social sciences, and law.Research tasksThe position involves responsibilities connected to:

• Conducting Background Research: Gathering and analyzing relevant literature, data, and information related to the project’s objectives.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Designing and implementing qualitative research methods, such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups. Analyzing collected data to draw meaningful conclusions.
• Project Coordination: Assisting in the coordination of project activities, including scheduling meetings, managing timelines, and ensuring effective communication among team members.
• Documentation and Reporting: Preparing reports, presentations, and other documentation required for project progress updates and final deliverables. Ensuring compliance with EU reporting standards.
• Collaboration: Working closely with academic partners, stakeholders, and local communities involved in the project. Establishing and maintaining strong research relationships.
• Method Development: Co-designing and testing new methodological approaches tailored to the project’s specific needs and case studies.
• Dissemination of Findings: Supporting the dissemination of research findings through academic articles, conferences, and other scientific outputs.
• Administrative Support: Providing administrative assistance, including managing project budgets, handling logistics, and ensuring adherence to legal and ethical guidelines.
• Training and Mentorship: Assisting in the training and mentorship of junior researchers and students involved in the project.
• Facilitation of Workshops and Co-Design: Organizing and facilitating workshops and co-design sessions with project stakeholders to collaboratively develop solutions and gather diverse perspectives.

The research area also focuses on integrating traditional crafts with innovative and creative technologies, using art to enhance qualitative and quantitative research. This is achieved through exhibitions, events, and art installations that aim to engage and stimulate diverse audiences. Familiarity with the four ecosystems of the Horizon Europe Hephaestus project – Dals Långed, Venice, Bornholm, and the Bassano del Grappa region – is an advantage, as they serve as key research focal points exploring the intersections of society, business, technology, and craftsmanship.Teaching obligations

• Strong foundation in philosophy of science and qualitative methods, including the ability to guide students in understanding epistemological frameworks, research design, and qualitative data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and document analysis.
• Capability to engage students in philosophical analysis of business practices, with emphasis on critical thinking, conceptual clarity, and the ability to relate abstract ideas to real-world organizational contexts.
• Expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship, including understanding of innovation processes, leadership in creative environments, and the ability to facilitate collaborative, team-based learning around real-life challenges.
• Ability to teach innovation management, including evaluation of business opportunities, value propositions, and the strategic use of innovation theories and models in diverse organizational and societal contexts.
• Documented experience in teaching these subjects at the higher education level, with a pedagogical approach that encourages analytical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary integration.
