Job description: SAP Basis & Database Management Specialist – Vendor-FocusedLocation: Kilkenny or Dublin (Hybrid | Approx. 1 day/week on-site)
Full-Time | PermanentHartley People Recruitment is hiring for a SAP Basis & Database Specialist with a strong emphasis on third-party vendor management. This is a strategic role designed for professionals who can confidently oversee external service providers while still contributing technical expertise across SAP Basis and database platforms.This position blends hands-off oversight (60–70%) with hands-on technical contribution (30%), making it ideal for someone who understands both operational architecture and service delivery.Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate third-party vendors (e.g. BT Ireland, DXE, Verizon) across SAP Basis and database-related services.
• Oversee SLA performance, escalations, and service reviews, ensuring accountability and resolution.
• Provide hands-on technical support for SAP Basis administration and Oracle/MS SQL environments.
• Support system upgrades, patching, backups, and recovery planning in coordination with vendors.
• Monitor the health and performance of SAP environments, contributing to availability and optimisation.
• Participate in vendor contract reviews, onboarding, and service transition planning.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across IT and business units to maintain secure, stable infrastructure services.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 3+ years’ experience in SAP Basis or technical infrastructure roles with Oracle/MS SQL administration.
• Demonstrated experience managing external vendors or MSPs, including SLA negotiation and governance.
• Confident working in a mixed role where vendor management is the majority focus.
• Strong communication, organisational, and issue-resolution skills.
• Hands-on understanding of SAP HANA, Oracle databases, or system performance tuning is a strong plus.
• Able to travel occasionally between Dublin and Kilkenny; hybrid office setup (~1 day/week).
