Job description: Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with a leading residential developer to recruit a high-calibre Senior Quantity Surveyor for their team. - Take full commercial responsibility for a residential development project, reporting directly to the Regional or Managing Quantity Surveyor.
- Collaborate with the internal cost planning team and external consultants during the budgeting phase to ensure accuracy and alignment.
- Compile and manage the Preliminaries Book for incorporation into overall project budgets.
- Oversee comprehensive cost management activities, including preparation of cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and commercial review documentation.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the project lifecycle while fostering a proactive risk management culture.
- Present detailed commercial performance reports to the senior leadership team on a monthly basis.
- Lead the procurement process, ensuring precise scope definition and adherence to the procurement schedule for all subcontract packages.
- Administer subcontractor and consultant payments and maintain rigorous control over cost and value assessments.
- Promote a value-driven approach throughout the project team and ensure alignment with the company’s construction methodologies and innovation goals.
- Support continuous professional development within the commercial team and maintain strong supply chain relationships.
- Prepare and negotiate Part V submissions and manage their timely conclusion.
- Ensure punctual delivery of the full monthly QS cycle onsite.
- Manage and mentor junior quantity surveyors, fostering growth and accountability.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of the development.
Requirements for Senior Quantity Surveyor
- 7-10+ years’ post-graduate experience in a PQS or contractor’s environment.
- Previous experience in residential construction is highly advantageous.
- Strong technical knowledge of modern construction methods.
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines while upholding quality standards.
- Proficient in Cubit, Cost-ex (or similar), and Microsoft Office suite.
- Committed to ongoing professional development and learning.
- Strong analytical and presentation skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and accept responsibility for overall project outcomes.
