Let’s shape the future together!Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsSpecific RequirementsYour personal sphere of play:Your future position is at the Department of Palaeontology with currently three professors, two tenure (track) professors and two ao. professors. Excellent research at the department is done in the fields of Conservation Palaeobiology and Historical Ecology, Evolutionary Morphology, Geobiology, Palaeobotany and terrestrial ecosystems, and Palaeoecosystems. The department is part of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy. There, currently 28 professorships and 11 tenure (track) professorships are grouped around four thematic areas: “Cosmos”, “Earth”, “Environment”, and “Anthroposphere”.Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You support the working groups at the Department of Palaeontology and at other Earth Science departments at the faculty with your statistical expertise.
- You teach statistics in the Earth Science curriculum and you support students with your statistical expertise.
- You build up an independent research profile in the field of Palaeobiology and Palaeontology.
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies.
- You publish internationally and give lectures on different topics in Palaeontology.
- You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You supervise students at the Department of Palaeontology.
- You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Palaeobiology or Palaeontology
- Outstanding dissertation
- IT skills and outstanding competence in multivariate statistics.
- Outstanding competence in the programming language R.
- Experience in teaching statistics.
- Research competence and initiative proven through international publications in peer-relevant media
- Experience in research management and in leading project staff
- Didactic skills / experience in e-learning
- Research and teaching history in Historical Ecology and Conservation Palaeobiology is a significant advantage
- Excellent knowledge of English (C1)
- Team player and high social/communicative skills
