You will be part of a global team and provide tactical and strategic cost support to design, manufacturing, procurement and engine services.This team is part of the newly formed Manufacturing Engineering and Materials Group within ET&S and, as a key part, of this broader, high performing team, we are responsible for generating value for the aerospace division through the identification, evaluation and support of product cost avoidance & reduction programmes and projects across all stages of the product life cycle.Why Rolls-Royce?Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.What you will be doing:In this exciting role as a System Cost Engineer, you will understand, report, challenge and influence product cost within future programmes, new product introduction and service stage:

• Support design-to-cost activities on component, sub-system and system level
• Influence integrated commodity strategies and house-styles
• Provide product cost insight and cost levers to Engineering and Procurement
• Perform cost benchmarks
• Create scaled price estimates and bottom-up activity based costings
• Facilitate or support cross-functional cost reduction workshops

For this role you will need:

• Knowledge & experience of manufacturing processes associated to e.g. automotive, defence, space or, preferably, jet engines
• Ability to convert design definitions into routers, process minutes and material consumptions
• Engineering Degree “BEng, Master of Eng, PhD in Eng”

Optional experience:

• Familiar with Engineering, Manufacturing and Finance Systems
• Familiar with cost modelling
• Familiar with CAD
• Good project management skills and knowledge of supply chain implications
• Good understanding of lean principles
• A passion for future products and ability to perform in ambiguous environments
