Job description: The Department of Forensic Medicine at the Faculty of Health, Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Tenure Track Assistant Professor as per 1 September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position with a view to permanent employment as Associate Professor.As a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Department of Forensic Medicine, you will be part of a workplace with dedicated and specialized employees. The shared goal of our employees is to prevent and solve crimes, accidents, premature deaths and suicides through research, education and forensic examinations. The department is part of the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University with a permanent staff of seventy employees who work in two sections delivering impartial and evidence-based public sector consultancy for the Danish police. The Section of Forensic Chemistry identifies and quantify drugs in both biological material and illicit drugs seized by the police. The Section of Forensic Pathology and clinical forensic medicine performs forensic autopsies, crime scene investigations and clinical forensic examinations. Both departments hold either ISO 17025 or ISO 17020 quality standard accreditations. In addition to the two sections, the department has three research units which focus on bioanalytical chemistry, forensic imaging and clinical forensic medicine. The employees work in an interface between public sector consultancy and basic and applied research, and the department has particular focus on the good work environment, as this is a prerequisite for high quality in the performance of tasks at all levels. We will work together with you to develop your research talent through supervision, professional networks and pedagogical upgrading.As Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Clinical Forensic Medicine your primary tasks will be research and research-based teaching. You will teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s and Master’s level, and you will contribute to the development of the department through research of the highest international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with both Danish and international colleagues.Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Independent research of the highest international quality, including publication in top international journals and communicating your research in national and international academic networks.
  • Teaching and supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students, as well as possible supervision of PhD students.
  • Collaboration with the departments commissioned work to identify potential areas for future development.
  • Grant application to attract external research funding.
  • Collaboration with relevant national and international research environments.
  • Involvement in assessment and committee work at Aarhus University.

You will report to the Head of Department Christian Lindholst.Your competences You have independent research-related qualifications at a high international level. You are a clear communicator, and you have experience of supervision and teaching at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree level and potential of becoming a successful group leader. Completed pedagogical courses in supervision or similar will be a plus, as will experience with epidemiological methods, register-based studies and knowledge about violence and child abuse. You have international experience through international research stays or international research collaboration.As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are friendly and helpful and able to contribute to a good work environment.In order to be assessed as qualified for a tenure track Assistant Professor position, you must meet .We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English. . * The yearly base salary for a fulltime assistant professor is between DKK 484.214,84 and DKK 538.720,20 depending on the years of working experience after achieved MSc degree.
