The Gerard Wrixon Post-Doctoral Fellow Department of Early and Medieval Irish, School of Irish Learning

Job title: The Gerard Wrixon Post-Doctoral Fellow Department of Early and Medieval Irish, School of Irish Learning

Company:

Job description: Offer DescriptionThe Gerard Wrixon Postdoctoral Fellowship aims to support excellence in teaching and research in the field of Early and Medieval Irish in University College Cork. UCC has a long and proud record in the discipline and can list Profs Séamas Caomhánach, Pádraig Ó Riain and Máire Herbert as former holders of the Chair in the Department. The Fellowship will be offered as a one-year post, with renewal for a second year subject to satisfactory performance. Successful holders of the Fellowship may apply for it a second time if/when the Fellowship is advertised on another occasion. The Fellowship has two primary aims: firstly, to facilitate the successful applicant in developing a high-quality research profile as a member of a dynamic scholarly Department; and secondly, to give promising early career scholars the opportunity to enlarge their teaching portfolios, important for those who wish to seek third-level positions in the field.Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI’s. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI nProject Title: The Gerard Wrixon Teaching and Research Postdoctoral Fellowship in Early and Medieval Irish.Post Duration: 12 MonthsWhere to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field History » Other Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsThe Wrixon Post-Doctoral Fellowship will include research and teaching.
