Let’s shape the future together!Your personal sphere of play:Your future position is at the Department of Geography and Regional Research in the working group Economic Geography, which focuses on theory-led, evidence-based, and policy relevant research on spatial aspects of innovation-based socio-economic sustainability transitions. Our research priorities include green and just industrial transitions; climate change adaptation; global value chains; and place-based challenge-oriented innovation strategies and policies.Our academic staff and students appreciate our internationality, opportunities to take part in outstanding research projects, and interdisciplinary cooperation.This position is limited to 6 years and would ideally be filled 01.10.2025 – 30.09.2031.Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You build up an independent research profile and are involved in research projects in the fields of economic geography, geography of innovation and sustainability transitions, and similar.
  • You publish internationally and give lectures.
  • You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You supervise students.
  • You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your personality:

  • Completed doctoral/PhD studies in the field of Economic/Human Geography or a related discipline
  • Outstanding dissertation
  • Research competence in the field of geography of innovation and sustainability transitions proven through international publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Skills in qualitative and/or quantitative methods
  • Experience in acquiring third party funding
  • Experience in teaching and supervision of students; didactic skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Team player and high social/communicative skills
  • Willingness to contribute to science management
