Welcome to our team!Your personal sphere of play:As a postdoctoral assistant at the Department for Economic and Social History, you will be involved in research and teaching in the field of economic and social history of the 19th and 20th centuries and in the key research area ‘Economy and Society from a Historical and Cultural Studies Perspective.’ The department also strives to strengthen networking within the department beyond the boundaries of the department and the university.Your future tasks:You will actively participate in research, teaching and administration, which means:

  • Developing a third-party funded project to be submitted to a competitive programme (e.g. Marie Curie, FWF individual project, FWF Esprit)
  • Further developing your academic profile through publications and presentations at international conferences
  • Developing and teaching courses (in accordance with collective agreement provisions) as part of bachelor’s, teacher training and master’s programmes in history,
  • Assisting in the expansion and networking of the research group in 19th and 20th century economic and social history,
  • Supporting university administrative tasks and engaging in academic self-administration.

This is part of your personality:

  • Completed doctoral degree in history or social sciences with a focus on monetary history
  • Proven capacity to work in interdisciplinary contexts and a broad knowledge of methods and theories
  • Experience or willingness to engage in academic teaching
  • Very good English skills and, if possible, German skills or another foreign language
