Let’s shape the future together!Your personal sphere of play:A university assistant (postdoc) position is available at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Life Sciences for 6 years. The ‘Molecular Targets Laboratory’ led by Professor Verena M. Dirsch aims at a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms of natural products. Cell and molecular biological methods are developed and applied to identify and characterize biologically active natural products. The lab consists of a motivated and international team connected to national and international collaboration partners.This position in the field of pharmaceutical biology is dedicated to the identification and pharmacological characterization of bioactive natural products, mainly in the context of metabolic disorders and inflammation. Though our research lies mainly in the area of molecular pharmacology and cell biology, we work closely together with e.g. phytochemists, synthetic chemists and chemoinformaticians.Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You contribute to existing research projects and develop your own independent research project(s) (to build your scientific career)
  • You provide training, consultation and technical support to fellow researchers, master and doctoral students
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You apply for project third-party funds.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your personality:

  • Doctoral degree in pharmaceutical sciences, molecular biology or related fields
  • Experience in cell and molecular biology
  • Scientific publishing experience in renowned, subject-relevant peer-reviewed journals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot
  • High level of self-motivation, commitment, and work ethics
  • Good management and (self) organizational skills
  • Excellent team player
  • Excellent knowledge of English (C1) and good command of German (B2) is necessary
  • Experience in nuclear receptor research is an asset
