Job description: Offer DescriptionYour Responsibilities

• Teaching activities: Participation in courses on bio-based materials (VO, LU, SE) as well as in project laboratories, preparation of teaching materials and creation of experimental set-ups.
• The research focus of the assistant position is in the field of energy storage from lignocellulosic materials, especially lignin and other bio-based precursors. Very good knowledge of common electrochemical characterisation methods is required. Practical experience in the operation of redox flow batteries is also a prerequisite. Furthermore, experience in organic electrochemical synthesis, preferably in continuous systems, is required. Basic knowledge of surface analytical methods such as scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy or surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy is advantageous. It is expected that the candidate also carries out research activities abroad and therefore has a very good command of written and spoken English. Activities in teaching and industrial research projects are also part of the remit.
• Writing a dissertation in the area of the research fields listed
• Collaboration in the institute infrastructure, such as maintaining and updating the institute homepage, administration of the institute library and IT infrastructure, etc.

• Very good written and spoken English skills (research activities are also carried out abroad)
• Committed, flexible, independent personality with a structured way of working
• Enjoys and is highly interested in university teaching in the field of biobased materials
• Willingness to write a dissertation in the institute’s main research areas

Admission Requirements

• Completed Master’s or Diploma degree in Chemistry, Advanced Materials Science, or equivalent degree
• Practical experience in the operation of redox flow batteries
• Very good knowledge of common electrochemical characterisation methods
• Experience in electrochemical synthesis from organic raw materials
• Experience in surface analytical techniques (e.g. surface plasmon spectroscopy, electron microscopy)
• Experience in working on industrial projects
