Then join our accomplished team!Your personal sphere of play:The research group Scientific Computing focuses on research in programming paradigms, languages, compilers, and software and hardware infrastructures for scientific computing to support users in the process of solving increasingly complex compute- and data-intensive problems in science and engineering on high-end parallel and distributed computing platforms.More information:Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching, and administration, which means:

• You develop a research profile in the field of distributed systems.
• You get involved in research projects and scientific studies.
• You publish internationally and give scientific lectures.
• You join UniVie Doctoral School Computer Science:
• You work on and complete your doctoral dissertation.
• You co-supervise the research conducted by students.
• You participate in teaching as defined by the collective agreement.
• You engage with colleagues from adjacent fields and collaborate on interdisciplinary research.

These are your qualifications:Must-have criteria:

• You have completed a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, or you expect to complete it by 31.08.2025.
• You have excellent written and spoken English skills, demonstrated by high-quality academic writing and communication. (Our working language is English.)
• You are interested in research in distributed systems and interdisciplinary topics.
• You are a team player with strong social/communicative skills.

Desirable skills:

• You have established experience in distributed systems, ideally in one or more of the following areas:

• Cloud/Edge Computing
• Edge Intelligence/Edge AI
• Federated Learning
• Internet of Things
• Sensor Networks
• Latency/Performance Optimazation, Scalability
• Fault Tolerance
• Energy Efficiency, Sustainability
• You have research competence and initiative proven through international publications in reputable conferences and journals.

Fixed-term contract and fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 3.714,80 (on full-time basis, 14x p.a.) increases if we can credit professional experience. The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. With approppriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.
