Then join our accomplished team!Your personal sphere of influence:The Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law of the University of Vienna has a vacancy for a university assistant (“prae doc”).The focus of the position is on public law. We also expect readiness to work with students in early stages of study and to contribute to one or several specialty topics of the Institute (eg medical law, public economic law).The willingness to actively participate in research and publication projects as well as in the preparation of lectures/courses as part of a team is required.An excellent command of both German and English is required, knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage.The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.Your future tasks:You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses public law as defined by the collective agreement
- Participation in the handling of exams, in particular those in the early stages of law studies
- Supervision of students, assistance in the administration of courses
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
Minimum requirements:
- Completed diploma or master’s degree in law, ATTENTION: Applications by students who finish their studies in June/July will be accepted. The degree must be presented before starting the position
- Methodological skills: Knowledge of legal dogmatics, expertise in (Austrian) public law
- Very good academic performance, especially in the subjects represented at the institut
- Readiness to contribute to one or several specialty topics of the Institute (eg medical law, public economic law)
- Didactic skills desired
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing in fluent German
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, further foreign language skills are an asset
- IT user skills, especially MS Office and moodle (basic skills)
- Ability to work in a team
Desirable qualifications are:
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Basic experience in research methods (legal dogmatics) and academic writing, experience in interdisciplinary research is an asset.
