  • Conduct research in Software Engineering in one or several of the following fields:
  • Distributed Software Systems and Software Architectures, esp. Distributed Stream Processing Systens
  • Cloud Computing and Software Performance, esp. in Large, Distributed Data Systems
  • Real Time, Scalable Data Processiong and Quering
  • Lay the foundation for the next generation of highly scalable, data-driven software applications in collaboration with one of the industry leaders in software intelligence, i.e., Dynatrace (

) * Publish, present and disseminate research findings in journals, conferences and workshops

  • Collaborate with fellow JKU researchers and academic and industrial partners in Austria and abroad
  • Apply for research grants
  • (Co-)supervise Ph.D./Master’s/Bachelor’s students

Your Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong software engineering background and experience in one or multiple of the following fields:
  • Distributed Software Systems and Software Architectures, especially Distributed Stream Processing Systems
  • Scalable Data Processing and Querying
  • Cloud Computing
  • Software Performance, especially in Large, Distributed Data Systems and Parallel Computing
  • Experience in writing academic/scientific publications and presenting scientific work at international events
  • Hands-on experience in object-oriented programming
  • Experiences with Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka and Kubernetes are desired
  • Strong proficiency (C1 level) in English (both oral and written), no German language skills required
